I was born on September 21, 1981, into a small settlement in south Iceland. I grew up on the volcanically active Reykjanes ridge, a no-go zone occupied by the U.S. Army.
I made my first film in 2001, at the age of 20. Since then I have produced, written, and/or directed more than twenty film projects.
I've spent half of my film-making life living overseas - working on various commercial projects but in 2017 I moved back to Iceland to focus on my personal work. I want to create films that center around the sub-Arctic and Arctic regions of the world.
My goal is to produce projects that capitalize on the potent yet underused imagery of the North. As a filmmaker, I am drawn to a particular underlying sense of terror and awe that seems to be fundamentally coded into the fabric of this harsh landscape and the prospect of relating this sensation through the work I produce.
